FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Kempe’s 50th Birthday Celebration: 50 Years of progress

Community supporters and corporate partners like Office Depot come together to celebrate

AURORA, CO (April 1, 2022) – Each year Child Abuse Prevention Month takes place in April with the purpose of recognizing the importance of communities and families working together to strengthen families to prevent child abuse and neglect. On April 29, 2022, The Kempe Foundation will conclude these efforts for the month by hosting its largest fundraising event of the year at the Kempe 50th Birthday Celebration.

Dr. C. Henry Kempe and his colleagues exposed the reality of child abuse for the first time in their defining paper, The Battered Child Syndrome. This paper is lauded as the single most significant event in giving doctors a way to identify and understand child abuse. Inspired by these findings, Dr. Kempe founded the Kempe Center for the Prevention and Treatment of Child Abuse and Neglect in 1962 to create a network of professionals to improve the care and well-being of children and families everywhere. Today, 50 years later, the Kempe Center is recognized as a world leader in innovating solutions to prevent and treat child abuse, and neglect. Every day, Kempe Center professionals continue to advance Dr. Kempe’s mission to improve the lives of children.

The Kempe Foundation will celebrate this milestone anniversary by throwing a birthday party at The Cable Center in Denver, Colorado on April 29th beginning at 5:30 pm to honor the achievements of the Kempe Center’s dedicated professionals and recognize the children and families who have been a part of our history. Inspired by Dr. Kempe’s vision of a world where all children are happy and healthy, this birthday extravaganza will bring out the kid in all of us. The 50th birthday celebration will be an opportunity to tap into your child-like spirit and celebrate all the young lives Kempe has positively impacted over the last 50 years. For more information visit www.kempe.org/Birthday.

Local philanthropists, longtime Kempe supporters and corporate partners such as Presenting Sponsor Office Depot will be in attendance to celebrate. At this event, guests will enjoy a whimsical atmosphere with tasty food and drinks, entertaining games and an impactful program filled with memorable milestones from the past 50 years.

Mark your calendars as we’re going to celebrate in style. Media members are welcome to attend at no cost though we kindly ask you to RSVP prior to the evening.
