The power of prevention was on full display in Portland at the Prevent Child Abuse America (PCAA) 2025 National Conference, which took place August 12-14. We were honored to be co-supporting sponsors alongside EndCAN for this incredible event. The conference brought together a community of over 200 leaders, advocates, researchers, and frontline professionals all dedicated to a single, critical mission: preventing childhood trauma and maltreatment.
The event featured over 70 sessions and 14 workshops, and attendees heard from poignant keynote speakers, including neuroscientist Dr. Bruce Perry, expert on Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) Dr. Nadine Burke Harris, and voting rights activist Desmond Meade. The conference also highlighted the selfless work of award recipients from across the country who are making a real difference in their communities.
The work of The Kempe Foundation and our partners is rooted in prevention, and we are proud to support events that bring together like-minded advocates to share, learn, and grow. Because when we unite in our efforts, we can create a world where every child is safe, healthy, and thriving.
We left the conference feeling energized and hopeful (Jon Kruljac and Dr. Richard D. Krugman), and we look forward to the continued collaboration and innovation that will come from this remarkable gathering.
