The Kempe Foundation and the Kempe Center were deeply saddened to learn that Richard “Dick” Saunders passed away on November 21st, 2025. Dick served on the board of The Kempe Foundation for many years and he and his wife, Jeanne, were incredibly generous with their time and resources on behalf of abused and neglected children. Their support, and that of Dick’s company, Saunders Construction, were instrumental in building offices for Kempe, both the Imhoff Pavilion and the Gary Pavilion, which have housed Kempe for the past 30 years, as well as raising awareness in the community regarding childhood maltreatment. Kempe, and the children we serve, are forever grateful for his caring heart and generous spirit. We share with those who mourn over his passing.
