KICS Clinic Provides Specialized Care for Children in Out of Home Placement

Housed at Children’s Hospital Colorado, in affiliation with the Kempe Center, the clinic provides trauma-informed, culturally responsive care for children in foster and kinship care. Along with the hurt, confusion, and sadness that come when a child is removed from their home by social services, a host of medical needs are often present as well.

SSWR Recognizes Professor Fluke with 2025 Fellowship

The Society for Social Work and Research (SSWR) is pleased to announce Professor John Fluke as a 2025 Fellow. He is an Associate Director for Systems Research and Evaluation at The Kempe Center at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus. This prestigious honor recognizes Professor Fluke’s outstanding contributions to social work research and his commitment to the Society’s mission.

Despite strong bipartisan support, bill to protect kids online fails to advance in Congress

When lawmakers wrapped up the 118th Congress to head home for the holidays, they left a lot undone. One of the biggest issues that didn’t get checked off the to-do list was legislation to protect kids from the harmful effects of social media, despite a last-minute press to get it through.
